Star Fox 64 3D

Star Fox 64 3D review

It’s been 14 years since the original Starfox 64 or Lylat Wars as some know it came to the N64. Back then I didn’t actually own Nintendo’s system so never played it the first time around. I’ve always heard great things about it though so was intrigued to play this version on the 3DS with a bit of spit and polish and updated optional controls that make use of the 3DS’s gyroscope. If you, like me, have never played the game, let me enlighten you on the story. The evil simian scientist Andross is planning to take over the nearby...

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for the 3DS

Review of Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D

By the end of 1998, polygonal 3D games were nothing new and games on rival platforms such as the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn had all gone into the third dimension. Could Nintendo really deliver the biggest game of all time and live up to the expectations? Sure up until then the Legend of Zelda featured a long and successful back catalogue, but pedigree can’t always guarantee success. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was known to be in development for around four years and at the time this was almost unheard of – as was missing the release...

Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D

Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D review

I first had a go on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D on board a parked bus at the launch event of the Nintendo 3DS in Amsterdam. There we got to play on a whole bunch of games and inside the bus they were showing off Mercenaries. I had a little play on it and was immediately impressed at how good it looked. The controls on the other hand I found a little bit tricky but I did only get a couple of minutes on it, plunged straight into a battle against lots of infected zombie people. This time around I’ve...

The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time 3DS

The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time 3D review

Ocarina of Time is one of those games that has passed me by over the past 10 years. I never got round to playing it on the N64 and I even downloaded it on the Wii’s Virtual Console and it’s been sitting there ever since unplayed. I suppose you’ll also scoff when I say I’ve never seen any of the Godfather movies and refuse to watch School of Rock. I’m just not interested. In fact, I’ve never really got fully into any of the proper console Zelda games and have actually preferred the various versions on the Gameboy Advance and...

Nintendo 3DS Christmas Games for 2011

Despite the Nintendo 3DS having a slower start than expected, Ubisoft are predicting Christmas 2011 will see it flourish. Ubisoft have already released launch titles for the game including remakes of their Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and Rayman titles and their UK boss Rob Cooper has been quoted saying Ubisoft are a big supporter of the handheld. Personally, I can’t wait for Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 3DS to come out in a couple of weeks. Dead or Alive Dimensions

Dead or Alive Dimensions review

I like beat ‘em ups on handhelds. With a couple of exceptions I always feel I’m wasting my time playing them on consoles so having a quick fight on the move works well with me. So far Street Fighter 4 is my favourite game on the 3DS so what’s Dead or Alive Dimensions like? Well, the good news is it’s a solid fighter which is easy to pick up but with just enough nuances to make it more complex if you dig a little deeper. Chronicles mode tells all the DOA stories so far and of course expect to see...
