Twisted Metal review

I was a big fan of the original Twisted Metal games on the PS One because at the time there was no other game out there like it. Sure there was Destruction Derby but that didn’t feature crazy cars and big guns! Now it’s back for a reboot on the PS3 but does it still provide the same thrill or has it been left behind since then? The plot focuses on three characters who’ve assembled to fight in Calypso’s Twisted Metal Tournament. Sweet Tooth is back to get the reward of murdering the one that got away, as well as...

Jet Set Radio HD

Tune into Jet Set Radio

New details have emerged about Jet Set Radio HD. Originally for the Dreamcast, this version of the game will feature 70% of the original Dreamcast music and the extra levels seen in the US version of the game. You’ll also be able to control the camera with the right analogue stick but oddly you won’t be able to share tags online like you could over SegaNet in the original. Expect to be able to download it for consoles and PC soon. Related: SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection review, Sega Mega Drive Classics Collection review

SSX

SSX review

I never really got into SSX when it was out on previous consoles but since then I’ve actually taken up snowboarding in real life so was keen to try out this reboot of the game which means I can try out all sorts of gravity-defying stunts and not have to be escorted down the mountain in what they call a blood wagon. The story is pretty straight forward. A dude called Griff who’s part of SSX team has gone rogue, presumably for more money and sponsorship gear, so it’s up to the remaining members to take to the slopes to...

Dead Space 3 to be powered by Battlefield 3

After DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine has been used in Battlefield 3 and farmed out to other games such as Need for Speed: The Run, there are now rumours that it may also be used in Dead Space 3. Although not announced by EA, rumours abound that it’s happening thanks to job postings at EA’s Visceral studios and DICE’s rendering architect Johan Andersson tweeting that he’s off to visit a whole bunch of Frostbite-powered EA studios, the first one being Montreal where Visceral are based. Of course this is all conjecture but it Frostbite 2 is indeed powering Dead Space 3...
