Kirbys Epic Yarn

Kirbys Epic Yarn release date

Nintendo were full of surprises at this year’s E3; not only did we see a new Zelda and a new Nintendo DS, but we also got a look at some great new games for Nintendo Wii this year. Kirbys Epic Yarn for Wii is a brand new title in the long running Kirby franchise, just as with most of the previous games this is a 2D Side Scrolling platformer. As you’ll probably already know, Kirby is a flying shape-shifting pink blob that can absorb special powers from the enemies he eats. This time around though most of Kirby’s amazing powers...

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword release date

There was plenty of good news at Nintendo’s E3 press conference and a little bad. First the good, we finally got our first look at the new Wii Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. The bad news is that the game has slipped from its original Christmas 2010 schedule. Let’s not dwell on that too much though because, we finally saw the new Zelda. For starters we now know that Skyward Sword for Wii is a MotionPlus only title, the add-on unit for the Wii Remote will provide greater accuracy and more realistic sword fighting and archery skills....

Alien Breed Impact

Alien Breed Impact review

Alien Breed: Evolution Episode One did not exactly set Xbox Live Arcade alight when it was released last year, but it did set a lot of aliens alight and that pleased some people at least. It was an enjoyable take on a classic game, but it had nowhere near enough publicity and a few too many flaws. Luckily, fans of the game were keen to let Team 17 know what they felt had gone wrong, and like all good developers, Team 17 listened. When the gong rang, summoning Alien Breed to PlayStation Network and Steam, they were ready. Alien Breed...

Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2 release date

The original Dead Space was a unique third person shooter that used the darkness and sudden music cues to great effect. At the time I described it as Resident Evil 5 set on a space ship and two years later the analogy still fits. Dead Space extraction on the Wii was an on-rails first person shooter which acted as a prequel to the original and was equally as good at setting a scary atmosphere, even without HD graphics. Dead Space 2 returns next year and promises more spooky happenings as well as another ton of Necromorphs to slay in the...

Blur

Blur review

I’m not a fan of realistic racing games, I much prefer the Burnout school of racing where the action is fast and furious and the car physics doesn’t mean you have to slow down too much for a bend. Either your car grips to the road like a go-kart or you drift round the corners as if driving on ice. Thankfully Blur is in this fantasy racing category where the speed never lets up and you have the added joy of power-ups. Think of it like Mario Kart with muscle cars or WipeOut on wheels. The idea of the game...

Sin and Punishment Successor of the Skies

Sin and Punishment Successor of the Skies review

Sin and Punishment is an on-rails shooter on the Wii which sees you running and flying around a number of crazy locations shooting everything in sight. The difference being, unlike recent shooters on the Wii, this time around it’s not a first-person view you play in and instead you play the game Space Harrier style as you not only shoot things but have to watch where your little man on the screen is too if you don’t want to die early. The story is the usual Japanese crazy stuff I don’t understand. Isa Jo and Kachi are the two main...
