DiRT 3

DiRT 3 review

Dirt 3 is of course the third game in the Dirt sub-series of rally games that all started as Colin McRae Rally. Although the game started off as a simulation, slowly it’s moving away from trying to be the real deal and instead is focussing more on fun – something which sits with me just perfectly. The main mode you’ll be playing is the Dirt Tour. Here you work your way through standard rally races, head to heads, rally cross where all the cars compete at once round a tight lap and a more extreme version where you ride about...

Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 release date

It wasn’t really a surprise but it’s finally confirmed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is hitting the shelves this November. Like me you’re probably already fed up playing Call of Duty Black Ops and can’t wait for the next installment and some fresh action to sink you’re teeth into. The Modern Warfare Three reveal trailer is stunning and has already got us very excited to see more at E3 2011. So far we know the game is set all over the world in locations such as; America, England, France and Germany. The Modern Warfare 3 release date is...

Brink

Brink review

Brink may not be the first-person shooter you’ve been expecting because it doesn’t actually have a progressive single player campaign and separate multiplayer mode. Instead you play through the same objective-based team maps with AI or real people online as you attempt to either protect The Ark as part of the security team or escape The Ark as a team of rebels. The main selling point of the game seems to be the parkour aspect where you hold a button down and can move freely over scenery without getting caught on walls and railings. We have of course seen this...

Portal 2 review

I’ve been looking forward to Portal 2 ever since it became a surprise hit as part of The Orange Box Half-Life compilation. Since then I’ve read the hype and even interviewed Chet Faliszek from Valve who co-wrote the game. Finally I get my hands on it and I’m very pleased with the outcome. Still playing as Chell, you are woken up by a little robot called Wheatley who accidentally wakes up GLaDOS and the testing begins all over again. The first thing you’ll notice is Stephen Merchant’s voiceover. It’s laugh out loud funny and this theme continues with all the...

Shift 2 Unleashed

Shift 2 Unleashed review

When I put the Shift 2 disc into my Xbox 360 and drove around a couple of laps to let it judge how much assistance I needed I was expecting it to be a simulation. The good news is that it isn’t a game along the lines of Gran Turismo because I find them terribly dull to play. Instead, you get the feel of realism but also a very visceral experience as you jostle for position with your competitors round some very tough tracks. New to this game from Slightly Mad Studios is the helmet cam which not only puts...
