Prototype

Prototype review

There’s been a lot of talk about Prototype and Sony’s InFamous being very similar and they are in the way that both stories take place in sandbox worlds and both let you scale buildings and glide down to the ground. That however is where the similarity ends. Play Prototype and you’ll soon realise it’s a very different game which offers a much more intense action experience. As Alex Mercer, the story is told as a flashback. You begin the game with all your powers and when you’ve completed the tutorial, the story shifts from day 18 of New York’s viral...

Empire Total War

Empire Total War review

Real time strategy games have never been my favourite game genre and if I’m honest I’ve only played a handful in the last few years. I tend to prefer more lightweight RTS games such as Pikmin or Mega Lo Mania. I just couldn’t get into Command and Conquer and the many others that were popular on the PC during the late 90’s. Empire Total War comes from the Creative Assembly crew that bought us recent console game Stormrise as well the other more well known Total War games such as Rome and Medieval. Empire Total War for PC takes you...

STALKER Call of Pripyat

STALKER Call of Pripyat release date

Back in May 2008 we wrote a review of the original STALKER game and rewarded the RPG a good 8/10, later got our hands on the first standalone expansion pack in our video review of  STALKER Clear Sky giving it a disappointing 6/10. Now there is news about the proper sequel to PC shooter STALKER – Call of Pripyat will feature the town of Pripyat as well as The Zone around Chernobyl. Expect all the weirdness of the first game with some much better graphics this time around. Update (14 Jan 2010) Originally we reported that the STALKER Call of...

Night at the Museum 2

Night at the Museum 2 review

I haven’t seen the first Night at the Museum film or the second, but this is obviously a film license aimed at kids and aimed to sell alongside the movie. In the game you play the role of Larry Davey and when it gets dark, things once again come to life as you try to put a stop to an evil Egyptian power called Kahmunrah from taking over the world. He’s also employed the help of a few despicable characters from history including Al Capone, Napoleon and Ivan the Terrible in the Smithsonian museum in Washington. As you explore the...

Fallout 3 Broken Steel review

Fallout 3 was my favourite game of 2008 and I’ve also been enjoying the recent DLC of The Pitt and Operation Anchorage. One thing that’s marred my enjoyment slightly is that I reached level 20 about 30 hours into the game and since then haven’t been able to grow and develop like any good RPGer shoud. Thankfully, Broken Steel not only removes the level cap and increases it to level 30, it also adds some new perks, some new ultra-tough enemies and lets you continue to play the game once you’ve finished the main story. Once you’ve finished the main...
