Assassins Creed Syndicate

Assassins Creed Syndicate review

I’ve been looking forward to Assassins Creed Syndicate because not only is it set in my home town, it’s sure to be less boring than the last game. This one tells the story of Assassin twins Jacob and Evie Frye from the London borough of Crawley. After an opening mission where they search for a Piece of Eden on the outskirts of the city, they then make their way into the heart of the city of London to put pay to the Templars and take back the city from a gang dressed in red called the Blighters. If you’ve played a...

The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone Expansion

The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone Expansion review

I’ve sort of finished The Witcher 3. By that I mean I’ve done the entire story, ridden around looking for extra things to do and have a couple of broken quests I can’t actually finish that I’ve had to just give up on. Hearts of Stone gives me more things to do in Geralt’s playground and this one revolves around visiting a manor full of supernatural people who, to begin with, want help with killing a massive toad-type thing. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but once you defeat it, you’ll fall further into the rabbit hole alongside...

Metal Gear Solid V

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain review

Metal Gear Solid V isn’t actually the 5th game in the Metal Gear series thanks to games such as Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes, however it is the latest in the franchise starring Big Boss, or Punished “Venom” Snake as he’s known here. After Solid, Liquid and Naked etc it’s really hard not to smirk and think that Hideo Kojima really does like jokes about one’s manhood. Anyway, set 9 years after the events in Ground Zeroes, you awaken from a coma and head into Afghanistan and Africa to start a new private military company and raise your own army...

Broken Sword 5 The Serpents Curse

Broken Sword 5 The Serpents Curse review

The Serpent’s Curse is the 5th game in the Broken Sword series designed and directed by Charles Cecil and made by Revolution Software. I originally tried playing this on the iPad last year but soon got stuck so I gave up. Luckily, here on the consoles it also comes with a handy hint system which gives you a nudge in the right direction and eventually tells you what to do if you push it hard enough. In a game like this it’s very welcome and can save tonnes of time where you’re not doing something that may be obvious but...

Trials Fusion Awesome Level Max

Trials Fusion: The Awesome Max Edition review

Cats and unicorns seem to be things that the internet were invented for and RedLynx know this which is why in their latest DLC they’ve decided to go completely mental and turn your motocross rider and bike into these two creatures. One rides atop the other brandishing a gun and it’s your job to run through the levels without toppling over as you inevitably crash a lot, instantly restart and eventually get to the end of the level not knowing quite what you just witnessed. Trials Fusion is already pretty mental but this takes it to a whole new level....

Spectra videogame

Spectra review

Spectra is one of those games that gets in your head. At first glance it looks simple, just race a spaceship along a sort of futuristic Rainbow Road whilst collecting little yellow cubes and avoiding the big purple ones that reduce your score, wreck your multiplier and can knock you off the edge into oblivion. Sounds, er, simple doesn’t it, but of course it isn’t and it’s even worse if you want to go for a high score! Make sure you boost over the chevrons and you’ll get a speed increase and increase your score for every dot you collect,...
