Rayman Origins review

I’ve never been a fan of the 3D Rayman games. Although the armless hero does appeal to some, for me he’s always been Ubisoft’s attempt at making its own version of Mario or Sonic with only some degree of success. Rayman Origins has changed my opinion because not only is it a slick 2D platformer, it’s also one of the most gorgeous looking and sounding games on HD consoles. So what’s the story about? Well, to be honest, it’s hard to tell thanks to there being no speech during the opening sequence but it’s something to do with four kings...

Goldeneye 007 Reloaded

Goldeneye 007 Reloaded review

Goldeneye 007: Reloaded is an HD remake of the Wii re-imagining of the original Goldeneye on the N64. Still with me? Good. If you’re not aware of what’s going on with it, basically it brings the Goldeneye story into the modern era with Daniel Craig instead of Pierce Brosnan and different level design that pays homage to the movies but shouldn’t actually be considered as an HD version of the N64 game because it’s not. Whilst it’s not what I would call a premium FPS it still delivers some fun action moments although to be honest, the whole package is...

Christmas 2011 Playstation 3 Buying Guide

It was only a few years ago that the Sony PlayStation 3 launched with a price tag of up to $600. Nowadays you can grab the console for just around $250 and we are going to tell you why it should be a consideration for you this holiday season. The introduction of the new slimline PS3 which is smaller, quieter and more power efficient has really turned heads in the last year or so. Don’t forget that the system isn’t just a top notch gaming console, it’s also able to play high definition Blu-Ray discs. That’s right – the best...

Assassins Creed Revelations review

The last Assassin’s Creed ended on a bit of a cliffhanger with Desmond stabbing Lucy and watching her die in front of him. This latest game in the Assassins Creed series not only starts where the last one ended but also goes back into the memories of Ezio and Altair as Desmond falls into a coma and uses the Animus to try and put his jumbled head back together from within. The main story is told through an older Ezio as he tries to find the lost keys to Altair’s hideout in Turkey’s Istanbul or Constantinople as it was called...

Rocksmith

Rocksmith release date

Following the news that music game Rocksmith has been delayed in Europe until some time in 2012, it’s also received a rather mediocre response from gamers in the United States. Ubisoft’s North American executive director Laurent Detoc has said on the matter “As much as gamers claim they want innovation, they don’t.” I have to agree, I still prefer a joypad to any other controller but really want to plug my guitar into my console! It’s out in the US for PC in December. Buy Rocksmith now New: Buy Rocksmith from Amazon.com Related: Music video games, Rock Revolution review

Battlefield 3 sales figures

Battlefield 3 sales figures

Battlefield 3 has become the fastest-selling game in EA’s history. It sold more than 5 million copies in its first weekend on sale. Executive VP of EA Games Patrick Soderlund was rather happy, stating “From Tokyo to Los Angeles, Sydney to London, millions of fans have been playing all weekend long – we are overwhelmed by the global response to Battlefield 3.” Isn’t it nice to know most people spent last weekend shooting each other?
