Rayman Origins

Rayman Origins release date

I’ve never really been into Rayman, especially since playing the 3D games and getting very frustrated by the usual inherent 3D platforming problems we all know and expect. Recently it also seems he’s been usurped by those pesky Rabbids but after playing the game at a ‘90s nostalgia’ event I have to say this is really a return to form. It was hard to get a proper gist of what was going on because as I was playing I was having my ear chewed off (not literally) by Jet from Gladiators but more on that later. From what I could...

Just Dance 3

Last night saw the celeb-studded launch party for Just Dance 3 which took the form of a house party in a large town house in Grosvenor Place. We left the taxi to a blinding flash of photographers who soon stopped taking photos when they didn’t know who we were (teach me to pull up in a cab right outside) and then made our way up the steps into the party. As you’d expect for a dancing game party there was a dance floor and a DJ playing good but deafening tunes and of course consoles set up around the house...

Dead Island review

Last year there was an interesting trailer for Dead Island that caught the attention of gamers worldwide. It showed us a short yet horrifying tale of a family desperately running away from a horde of blood-thirsty zombies. It was a brief, gory and best of all – played backwards. Now after having finished the game I can safely say that the trailer may have been great marketing, but it sure didn’t give us a real idea of what the game really was. I don’t know about you but I wasn’t expecting a cross between Borderlands and Left 4 Dead. Whilst...

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection review

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were seen as two classics on the PS2 so I’ve been looking forward to playing these two games again with better graphics and a decent framerate. If you’re not familiar with the games, they both present the gamer with beautiful mysterious worlds. Ico came first, so let me tell you about that. The game begins with a young boy with horns being imprisoned in a castle where you soon escape and realise you’re not the only one who’s been kept captive. You meet a young girl with magical powers and together you must try...

FIFA 12

FIFA 12 review

I’ve seen a lot about FIFA 12 in the run up to launch and after playing it at preview events I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Now it’s here and they’ve made quite a few changes. Most of them are for the good but some they also present their own problems which could probably be smoothed out in FIFA 13. The main thing you’ll notice is the complete overhaul in the way the game plays. You can now dribble past defenders more easily thanks to new close control and no longer can you just hold down two...

Battlefield 3 Beta review

Battlefield 3 is almost upon us and last week saw the open beta go live. It was downloaded so much it even crashed the Origin servers so you can imagine just how popular and anticipated this CoD rival is. The beta lets you play on the Operation Metro map in Rush mode which sees you trying to attack or defend two M-COM stations at various places in the map and then progress towards the next set. It’s just a taster of what the whole game has to offer but already it’s looking very tasty as well. The 32 player stage...
