Final Fantasy XIII review

I haven’t played many of the Final Fantasy games because I’m not a massive fan of JRPGs. Saying that I did play Final Fantasy X up to the tricky end boss and did rather enjoy it. Final Fantasy XIII is the first game on the next-gen consoles and to some degree is aimed at people who are new to RPGs as it’s far too simple for most hardcore gamers and holds your hand most of the way through. Playing as a number of characters from the land of Cocoon, the game begins as the government tries to purge the inhabitants...

Sonic and Sega All Star Racing

Sonic and Sega All Star Racing review

Is it me or does even the full title of Sega’s latest title sound like they’re trying too hard? ‘Sonic and Sega All Star Racing with Banjo and Kazooie’ is certainly more than a mouthful. Note the Banjo and Kazooie sub heading is exclusive for Xbox 360 owners. Before we head into this review of Sonic & Sega All Star Racing I think we should be upfront with each other. There’s no point in me hiding the fact that I am a Mario Kart lover, it would be wrong of me not to let you know I already have a...

Aliens vs Predator review

Why are people so obsessed about Aliens fighting Predators? Not happy with the previous games that were never seen as true masterpieces, Sega now publish this latest version once again made by Rebellion. You get to play short campaigns as a Marine, an Alien or a Predator, each with their own abilities and attacks. The Marine is the most familiar. You have the great sound effects of the radar and the pulse rifle and have to fend off Aliens running at you from all angles, mostly in the dark. Thankfully this campaign isn’t as tough as the old PC game...

Bioshock 2 screenshot

Bioshock 2 review

Set after the events of the first game, Bioshock 2 sees you playing the part of a Big Daddy as you look for your Little Sister buddy Eleanor who’s taken away from you at the start of the game. So once again you explore the retro watery world of Rapture battling the Splicers as you go about your mission. The game’s very familiar if you’ve played the first one. Apart from lumbering about a little slower this time around thanks to your big heavy suit and helmet, things are very similar. Your melee attack this time uses the drill which...
