Star Wars The Force Unleashed

Star Wars The Force Unleashed review

Darth Vader’s got a dirty little secret. Does he have three nipples? Does he like to wear ladies underwear under his black outfit and cloak? No, he’s got himself a secret apprentice and he’s getting him to do all his dirty work as he tries to overthrow the Emperor and rid the universe of the Rebel Alliance. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a third-person action adventure game where you do most of your talking with the bright end of your ligthsaber and of course those dark Force powers. You begin the game as Vader himself, marching through a woody...

TNA Impact review

For some time now there’s been a monopoly in the wrestling game genre – but now there’s a new contender entering the ring in the form of TNA Impact – Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. As you’d expect you get to control a bunch of wrestling superstars as they grapple, slap and jump on top of each other to prove who’s the hardest. That description could relate to something else so we’ll move on quickly. You can also create your own wrestler and kit him out with a variety of tattoos, outfits and a limited set of new moves which you’ll...

Plattchen, Bomberman Blast, Midnight Pool and Critter Round Up

Nintendo has been uber generous and pounded us with WiiWare releases us this past couple of weeks. With five games in two weeks we’re quite perplexed as to the reason for the huge outburst as we usually only get one game per week. Long may it continue though! First we have PLÄTTCHEN – twist ‘n’ paint; which costs an extremely expensive 1500 WiiPoints. Described as a challenging Puzzle Shooter for 1-8 players, it has over 300 levels and Wii Zapper support. Secondly we have Bomberman Blast; which costs a reasonable 1000 WiiPoints. Bomberman Blast for Wii is what every fan...

Geon Wii is an interesting game where your aim is to collects all of the pellets across a stage (yes a bit like Pac Man and that bonus game in Sonic & Knuckles) by moving your cube (called a Geon) around the level, and then you can deposit them in an opponent’s goal. As you’ve...

Groovin Blocks, Final Solider and Cho Aniki

For Virtual Console last week Nintendo gave us two classic retro games. First up is Final Solider from Hudson Software for the TurboGrafx16. This is yet another vertical shooter for the Virtual Console catalogue, yes we can’t believe how many there are to choose from now but if you love shooters, Final Solider with its tough difficulty, huge amount of weapons, power-ups and enemies to blast should keep you going for ages, it costs 700 WiiPoints. Next is Cho Aniki from Masaya for the TurboGrafx16 CD. Quite an unusual one is this, a side scrolling shooter which features semi naked...
