Wii Shop Channel Releases

Nintendo have updated the Virtual Console with another two classic games this week. Firstly we have the rather exciting Sonic the Hedgehog for the Master System; a well developed port of the original Genesis game which brings everything that was great about the original but scaled down to suit the 8bit hardware. With lots of redesigned levels as well as new ones to whizz though, Sonic the Hedgehog for master system only costs 500 WiiPoints and is a bargain for veteran Sonic fans or those unaware of this 1991 8Bit outing. Secondly we have Splatterhouse 2 from the Genesis. A...

Guitar Hero Aerosmith

Guitar Hero Aerosmith review

If you’ve still got an axe to grind and you’re a fan of the wrinkly rockers from Boston then you could do worse than check out Guitar Hero Aerosmith. With about 40 songs, interviews with the band and of course models of them prancing around on the stage it’s a fan’s dream. However, myself being someone who knows a few of their chart-toppers and not much more, it all falls a bit flat. If anything it shows how aged the game format’s becoming and without the help of surgery of the like Steve Tyler benefits from, it’s easy to just...

Ghostbusters delay

Bad news for Ghostbusters fans. The Ghostbusters video game may have been put back after the recent merger between Activision and Sierra’s parent company Vivendi Games. There’s even the possibility it may not even show its face at all – although Sierra are saying it’s NOT actually been cancelled. Related: Ghostbusters videogame, Ghostbusters Theme Song

Space Chimps for Wii is the upcoming video game of the new computer animated also called Space Chimps. Following the movie closely you control the simian stars Ham and Luna as they travel through 11 levels of crazy space antics after the chimps crash land on a mysterious new planet. The game features loads of puzzle-solving, jumping, climbing and swinging. Two leading actors; Cheryl Hines and Patrick Warburton reprise their roles from the movie especially for the game for that extra bit of realism. The Space Chimps release date was July 15, 2008 so should be in stores now if...

Mario Kart review

Mario Kart Wii is the sixth game in the long running Nintendo racing series and this time it comes with a plastic wheel and motorcycles. Who on Earth can say no to that? Mario Kart has been seen on every major Nintendo system since the Super NES (and even twice on Arcade Machines), can Ninty once again recreate the karting magic on their new home console? Here just for you, is our review of Mario Kart Wii. Unlike other Mario games, Mario Kart doesn’t really have a story – Princess Peach hasn’t been kidnapped by Bowser, you simply have to...

Sonic and the Black Knight

Sonic and the Black Knight

Hooray…another new exclusive Sonic game for Wii is in development and it’s called Sonic and the Black Knight (not Sonic and the Black Night). It is going to be the second game in the storybook series that started with the exclusive Sonic and the Secret Rings for Wii. We didn’t think that was a great game but it did show potential; this time around Sonic isn’t in the deserts of Arabia, now he’s in an enchanted Arthurian medieval world with lots of sword fighting to be had about the place. We’re not sure if it will match the Legend of...
