Geometry Wars Galaxies

Geometry Wars Galaxies review

If you like your shoot ‘em ups then listen up because I may have a game for you. It’s Geometry Wars: Galaxies on the Nintendo DS and it’s a hectic bit of fun to say the least. The game’s called Geometry wars because you are a little Geometric shape flying round an arena in spce being chased by lots of other geometric shapes that want to bump into you and blow you up. It’s like a mathematician’s bad trip. You may have played a version of this game on Xbox Live arcade called Geometry Wars Retro Evolved where the aim...

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams review

You may or may not be aware that Nights: Journey of Dreams is inspired by a game that came out on the Saturn 10 years ago called NiGHTS. Some of you may think it’s a brand new idea and to be honest, I had never heard of it before. The original was like Sonic, only with your main character NiGHTS, who looks like a purple flying jester, flying round the levels, through rings, collecting blue orbs and circling bad guys instead of running over the land. In this new version on the Wii you fly around the levels through rings,...

Beijing 2008

Beijing 2008 Olympics videogame

Sega has just announced it’s publishing the official videogame of the Beijing 2008 Olympics. This time, it won’t have Sonic in it and it will feature 35 events from the massive sporting event. And, for the first time, the game will play online so everyone round the world will be able to compete. Expect broken joypad buttons everywhere in the summer.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga review

This is an odd one because it feels like a box set you’d get with a movie series before Chirstmas and in a way is similar to the Orange Box. It’s Lego Star Wars the complete saga and for the first time you can now play all six episodes in one game and it’s available on the next-gen consoles with shiny new graphics on the PS3 and 360 and the ability to swing your light-saber using your remote on the Wii. Now for once I don’t need to go through the story of Star Wars as you all know it...

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City review

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles review

So we’re well into the naughties and the Resident Evil treadmill keeps on turning like a zombie which just won’t die, this time in the form of Umbrella Chronicles – a lightgun game using the point and shoot capabilities of the Wii remote with no sign of Rhianna anywhere. Rather than play through a complete story, you play through a number of scenarios you’ll recognise if you’ve ever played the first game, Resident Evil 0 or Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. This one’s mostly viewed through your own eyes as the camera swings about to set suspense and cue the next...

Nintendo apologise for children games

EA Playground review

There are a lot of party games coming out at the moment in time for Christmas, probably to relieve the boredom of watching another Queen’s Speech or episode of Only Fools and Horses on the big day. I’ve played a few recently and the latest one to come through my door is EA Playground. Now let me get straight to the point and tell you this one is just for kids. It’s not even as if adults will find something they like here because the game works on two levels like the Simpson’s. The basic premise is you select your...
