LEGO Batman 2 DC Super Heroes

LEGO Batman 2 DC Super Heroes review

LEGO Batman 2 is an original story from the Traveller’s Tales team, who brought you all the other LEGO games you’re probably all familiar with. In them you smash stuff to bits and beat up baddies to collect studs which earn you more unlocks and collectibles. It’s incredibly addictive, especially when played how it’s meant to played in co-op mode and funny too thanks to parodies on well-loved franchises. LEGO Batman 2 tries to break away from this mould slightly but ultimately it just succeeds in diluting an already successful formula. So what’s going on? Well this time Lex Luthor has...

Lollipop Chainsaw

Lollipop Chainsaw review

What do you get if you cross Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Greece? The answer is Lollipop Chainsaw from Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. It’s a crazy supernatural tale in the same vein as Shadows of the Damned but this time you play as a cheerleader called Juliet Starling with her decapitated boyfriend Nick along for the ride instead of a flaming skull. The story is pretty simple. Zombies have invaded the town of San Romero (see what they did there horror fans?) and it just so turns out you and your entire family are zombie hunters so off you go...

Battlefield 3 Close Quarters review

Close Quarters is the first piece of Battlefield 3 DLC from DICE that offers something genuinely new for the franchise and it involves combat in smaller arenas with no vehicles and a brand new game mode. It features 4 new maps, 10 new weapons, extra dog tags to equip and new assignments to complete – that is once you pay to activate it after the compulsory 2.8GB update whether you want it or not. Conquest Domination is the mode most people seem to be playing where your squad and team must try to control and hold three flags around the...

Resistance Burning Skies

Resistance Burning Skies review

Resistance: Burning Skies takes the battle with the Chimera on the move and online. Playing as a fireman who gets caught up in the fight during the 50s you soon get to play with all their weaponry which tags bad guys and shoots round corners, blasts enemies through walls and more heavy firepower that does lots of damage in very unconventional ways. There’s no slowdown so expect some graphical shortcuts here and there but the action is fast and furious with touch screen features such as throwing grenades and activating shields and buttons which work to various degrees of success....

Gravity Rush

Gravity Rush review

Apart from being something that happens when you stand up too quick, Gravity Rush plays with the PS Vita‘s gyroscope in a very clever way. As Kat and her cat Dusty, you wake up in a strange town with no memory although you do have the power to shift gravity and float around the town in order to help out its inhabitants. The game features a combination of fetch quests, sneaking, timed flying and combat and genuinely offers something different to anything I’ve ever played before. If playing in a public space you can also use the right stick instead...

Max Payne 3 image

Max Payne 3 review

The original Max Payne came out in 2001 and I remember playing it on PC, diving round corners in ‘bullet time‘ and swinging my mouse around to shoot bad guys. Forgetting about those silly dream sequences where you had to walk the red line, it was all a lot of fun and very trendy at the time thanks to The Matrix pulling the stunt first in the movies and making the effect very “in”. 11 years on this third game featuring the grieving alcohol and pain killer-fuelled ex-detective is developed by Rockstar Games instead of Remedy and features some trademark...
