Sonic Colors

Sonic Colors review

Those of you who follow my reviews know I’ve never been much of a Sonic fan. I’ve never been into the 2D games and the 3D games are even worse! Sonic Colours is lauded as a return to form for the 2D series but does it get me all in a spin? Let’s find out. So Dr. Eggman is back to his usual tricks and this time he’s got a whole bunch of planets caught in a tractor beam and is harvesting aliens called Wisps to make a nasty super weapon. Luckily, Sonic can also use their powers as he...

FlingSmash

FlingSmash review

FlingSmash comes in a pack with a snazzy WiiMotion Plus controller which is the same size as a normal remote but with the new technology in it which makes it more accurate. You’ll need it because the game doesn’t work with a standard controller. Basically it’s a block smashing game. The screen scrolls from right to left and you must whack a little round fella called Zip or Pip into the blocks collecting three tokens along the way in order to complete each level. The reason you’re doing this has something to do with an evil floaty thing and you...

Gran Turismo 5 review

I’ve never been into the Gran Turismo games. If I want to drive a car I’ll get in an actual car and drive it. I’m pitched firmly in the Burnout frame of mind where racing’s all about ludicrously high speed, drifting round corners and then smashing someone out of the way into a ditch. It’s not realistic, but after all I play games for escapism. Right, rant out of the way, what does GT5 have to offer after 6 years of development? Well, it looks nice – very nice indeed. If you’re driving one of the 200 premium cars you’ll...

God of War Ghost of Sparta

God of War Ghost of Sparta review

Ghost of Sparta is the second God of War title to appear on the PSP and once again Kratos is very very angry. Instead of going to see a counsellor about his issues once again he decides to unleash his rage using his Blades of Athena and a number of other artefacts he collects from the Gods along the way in order to find his brother Deimos. The game’s pretty much a case of if it ain’t broke don’t fix it so if you’ve played any of the games on the consoles or the handheld you’ll know what to expect....

James Bond Blood Stone

Review of James Bond Blood Stone

I thought it was strange that we had a brand new Goldeneye game last month for the Nintendo Wii. I can quite understand if James Bond Blood Stone for PS3 is equally confusing. Not only have Activision re-imagined the N64 classic thirteen years after the original; they’ve also gone and released a totally new and original Bond game for the HD consoles starring Daniel Craig. James Bond 007 Blood Stone is a new story written and created by Bruce Feirstein exclusively for this game, it’s not linked to any of the movies or books. According to Wikipedia Bruce has written/co-written three...

Review of Call of Duty Black Ops

Review of Call of Duty Black Ops

Are people fickle or just blinded by hype? I remember last year when Modern Warfare 2 was released that the whole world went crazy, reviewers were calling it the greatest game of all time and players were convinced of the same. But just a few months later the fuss had died down, in fact, people were complaining about the buggy and hacked multiplayer mode and a single player campaign that was too short. Perhaps the whole Infinity Ward and Activision fall out distracted things a bit, or maybe it was that the two DLC packs were overpriced and didn’t deliver...
