Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince review

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince review

Even though I’ve seen four of the Harry Potter movies I’m not really a big fan of them. I can’t deny they look very pretty and the cinematics are at times stunning; just personally I find the storylines and acting a lacking something. Having not read any of the books I don’t want to label the whole Harry Potter franchise and being a bit bland, just the movies. So let’s see how the sixth movie has transferred to game in my review of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for Wii. Once again you take control of wizard sensation...

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box review

I’ve been waiting almost a year to go on another puzzling adventure with Professor Layton and his trusty sidekick Luke and I couldn’t wait until it came out here in the UK so I’ve imported the US version. Once again I’m having a thoroughly good time and that’s thanks to the same great gameplay as the first game Professor Layton and the Curious Village. This time, one of the Professor’s friends has apparently been killed after opening a mysterious wooden box, and they set off to find out what happened. During the course of the game they uncover many more...

Madden NFL 10

Madden NFL 10 review

Another year sees another roll-out of all EA’s sports franchises such as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Madden NFL 10 is no different. Here we see a couple of new gameplay innovations along with the ones which worked from previous years. First of all, let me say that the game’s presentation is fantastic. It really feels like you’re watching a football game on a Sunday and the player models and graphics make for a really great game atmosphere. It’s a shame the commentary doesn’t shape up so well but to be honest you can choose to ignore that, much...

FEAR 2 Project Origin

FEAR 2 Project Origin review

I know Project Origin’s been out for a while now but I never got round to playing it and things are quiet in the summer months so here goes my review. Set just before the end of the first game, this tale of terror and gunplay begins in an office block as you try to extract Professor Aristide from an apartment. During your mission the massive explosion is seen which wipes out the crew in the first game and you’re then involved in experiments, flashbacks, lots of slow-mo shooting action and of course Alma pops up now and again to...

Call of Juarez Bound in Blood

Call of Juarez Bound in Blood review

Bound in Blood is a prequel to Call of Juarez and this time the wrong reverend introduces us to two brothers, Ray and Thomas McCall. The game begins with a stand-off between them over a woman and then flashes back to an adventure where they soon leave the Confederate Army and go on their own quest in Mexico whilst of course shooting everyone around them. Think of the game as a bit like Call of Duty, in that it features a strong storyline and plenty of set pieces where the aim of the game is to shoot everyone shooting back...

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince DS review

I don’t know if you’ve heard of Harry Potter. A lesser-known British series of children’s novels, the titular character and his adventures in the magical school Hogwarts has earned somewhat of a cult following amongst school children. Oddly enough, the series has also spawned a few movies and video games; the latest in the series of cash-ins is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on the Nintendo DS. So in an attempt to spread the word a bit and hopefully get more people interested in Master Potter’s magical stories here is our review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince...
