Ghost Trick Phantom Detective

Ghost Trick Phantom Detective review

Gamers are used to dying when playing through most games but Ghost Trick is different as you start off already dead. It’s an interesting concept as you play through the game as the blue spirit of a guy called Sissel as you possess objects, try to save people’s lives and also find out who killed you and why. Using the stylus or the d-pad you switch into ‘ghost’ mode to move from object to object and then press the ‘trick’ button and interact with them to move about the scene and distract people. For example you can open doors and...

Junior Brain Trainer Maths Edition

Junior Brain Trainer Maths Edition review

A few months ago I reviewed Junior Brain Trainer 2 on DS and awarded the game a healthy 7 out of 10. I found the game a little low on visual panache but delivered on its promise to deliver basic learning skills aimed at younger kids. The next game in the series is Junior Brain Trainer Maths Edition and I dare say that almost all children could do with a little bit of extra maths tuition in their lives. Yes of course we could all spend extra time with our kids doing maths puzzles at home for free using old...

International Cricket 2010

International Cricket 2010 review

Video games can often provide a player with their first experience in an arena they may never have considered before – leading to a long love affair or at least brief flirtation with the subject matter. What Trickstar Games have done here is produce a game so faithful to the sport of cricket that it will enthuse your average cricket fan, but anyone else would need to be armed with a bucketful of time, a mind open to the physics of spin and swing, and mental stamina that is constantly tested with repetitive actions requiring accurate timings. If that sounds...

House MD The Official Game

House MD The Official Game review

I was recently asked to review House The Official Game on DS and the only thing I knew about the show was that it starred Hugh Laurie. I thought if I were to do the game any justice I better do some research and watch the very first episode. Overall House the TV show didn’t tickle my fancy especially, I found some parts amusing but the story and writing was a little stale and unnatural. On the brighter side I wasn’t so offended by the show that I wanted to slit my wrists. House MD the show (and the game)...

Sonic Colors

Sonic Colors review

Those of you who follow my reviews know I’ve never been much of a Sonic fan. I’ve never been into the 2D games and the 3D games are even worse! Sonic Colours is lauded as a return to form for the 2D series but does it get me all in a spin? Let’s find out. So Dr. Eggman is back to his usual tricks and this time he’s got a whole bunch of planets caught in a tractor beam and is harvesting aliens called Wisps to make a nasty super weapon. Luckily, Sonic can also use their powers as he...

FlingSmash

FlingSmash review

FlingSmash comes in a pack with a snazzy WiiMotion Plus controller which is the same size as a normal remote but with the new technology in it which makes it more accurate. You’ll need it because the game doesn’t work with a standard controller. Basically it’s a block smashing game. The screen scrolls from right to left and you must whack a little round fella called Zip or Pip into the blocks collecting three tokens along the way in order to complete each level. The reason you’re doing this has something to do with an evil floaty thing and you...
