FIFA World Cup 2010

FIFA World Cup 2010 review

It’s easy to be cynical every other year when EA bring out a FIFA game based around international soccer competitions and it’s also easy to see why. There are less teams to play as, the game usually feels a bit stripped down to the bare bones and once the tournament is over you probably won’t pick the game up again. Having said that, this latest World Cup game is very much fun to play thanks to some new game modes and some tweaks to gameplay and graphics which show where the game will be heading when FIFA 2011 comes out....

FIFA 10

FIFA 10 review

Once again it’s time for another EA Sports game with a new number on the end. This time it’s the turn of FIFA. When you first look at the game it doesn’t look much different but you’ll soon realise that they’ve ironed out all the things that made 09 great to make this version excellent. First of all there’s the 360’ movement, meaning you’re no longer running at 45 degree angles. This makes for a more realistic movement of the players and coupled with the improved ball physics, some truly interesting and freakish goals that are sure to make you...

Fifa 09 review

Since last year there’s been a change in the Fifa vs Pro Evo battle. If I’m brutally honest Pro Evo hasn’t changed all that much since FIFA 08, despite it being a regular visitor to my 360’s DVD tray. Fifa, however, has gone down the simulation route and this year’s outing has really come up trumps. The game’s packed with tonnes of single player and online modes that’ll have you playing for months to come. The first thing you’ll notice is the gameplay is slower so you actually get time on the ball and time to think about your next...

Fifa 09 details

Electronic Arts have let us know some more details about its next instalment of Fifa which is being released on every current system this autumn. They tell us that they are concentrating more on giving unique gameplay experiences to each platform rather than hastily spread out the same version over every console. EA say that there are over 250 additions to the 360/PS3 version, further enhancing the core gameplay that featured in Fifa 08. With new animation technology which promises smoother and more responsive passing, dribbling and shooting, combined with an update to the physics engine that allows for realistic...

UEFA Euro 2008

UEFA Euro 2008 review

Electronic Arts love it when there’s a major football tournament on. It means they can knock out a stripped-down version of their yearly Fifa game and make more money out of footy fans. This year’s no different with Uefa Euro 2008 and the good news is it’s a solid game in its own right with some nice, if subtle improvements over Fifa 08. As you’d expect you can play as any of the teams actually in the finals, as well as qualifying games. You can play the game as a favourite team not in the finals by replacing teams in...
