First the Nintendo Wii is teaching our kids, now the Wii Fit is being used for physiotherapy in UK hospitals. It’s being used to show people with prosthetic limbs how to balance, with their shift in weight being accurately shown on the screen. Let’s just hope they don’t take the age rating into account because when my 25 year old girlfriend did the test after a couple of drinks it said she was 55. The Sun has been reporting that kids can stay slim whilst playing video games. They report that moving your hands about and pressing buttons uses up more calories than sitting still. It’s been announced that a new yoga game utilising the Wii Fit Balance Board is due to hit the shelves. The Yoga Wii release date is scheduled for April 2009 and promises to exercise your body, mind and soul.

What’s this, the ideal Christmas present for my chain smoking 10 year old child? Yes that’s right, the My Health Coach: The Easyway to Stop Smoking game is heading to a yellow nicotine stained Nintendo DS near you later this year. What a drag.

With Wii Fit Nintendo are hoping to end gym memberships forever. With videogames being blamed for health problems and kids being overweight, this does the opposite by doing what Brain Training did for the mind on the body. It comes with a balance board, basically a set of flat white scales that also measure your centre of balance. You stand on it and do a number of exercises and games to get you in shape.
