Mario and Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games

Mario and Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games review

Sega were generous enough to send me a copy of their latest Mario and Sonic game and who am I to say no? The formula so far has been that the Wii version contains a collection of Olympic themes Wii Sports style mini games and focuses heavily on local multiplayer. The handheld game instead contains a single player adventure story mode as well as collection of mini games that can also be played multiplayer if you have a DS/3DS owning friend. With the upcoming Olympic Games in London this year it makes total sense that Mario and Sonic would be...

Super Mario 3D Land

Last week saw the release of the new Metallic Red Nintendo 3DS and I was lucky enough to be invited to an event that not only showed off the new handheld but also a new build of Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 before their release on 18th November and 2nd December respectively. I had a brief chance to play Super Mario 3D Land at Nintendo’s UK event in London around E3 time and I have to say it’s still my most anticipated title on the device and I’m sure it’s one that is sure to shift a...

Mario Sports Mix review

When Mario Sports Mix came to me for review I assumed it would be a bit like Wii Sports but with all the characters from the Mario universe. What you actually get are four main games and four smaller party games you can play with friends in the same room or over Wi-Fi that play in a more conventional manner. The major shame is there’s simply not that...

Mario Sports Mix release date

On one hand Nintendo are well known for being very protective with their game franchises and characters, but on the other hand Nintendo also have made some very strange decisions and have often sold out Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom friends out for a quick buck. We’ve had; Mario Party, Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf and a Mario Baseball title. One thing games have in common is that they’re not in fact developed by Nintendo themselves. Instead they’re farmed out to 2nd or 3rd party developers and quite frankly it usually shows because most of the time the games...

Super Mario Galaxy 2 review

I was actually taken by surprise when Super Mario Galaxy 2 dropped through my door. Even though it’s been three years since the first game, I really wasn’t expecting it to be out so soon. So I put the disc in expecting it to be more of the same and it is – only far more streamlined with loads more variety. Once again the Princess has been captured and off you zoom through the galaxy to rescue her from Bowser. This time you travel around the world map on a spaceship shaped like Mario’s head and collect stars in order...
