Might and Magic Heroes IV

Might and Magic Heroes 6 beta

Ubisoft have announced the beta for their upcoming PC fantasy RPG, Might and Magic Heroes 6. Pre-order the game and you’ll be able to get online and try it out from the 28th June 2011. Up for grabs are 3 huge solo maps and one multiplayer map called Broken Alliance where you’ll be able to try out the improved combat mechanics, tweaked RPG elements and a completely revamped resource management system. You’ll also be able to play with two friends in what they call hot seat multiplayer. I’m not quite sure what that is but it does sound like my...

Fable 3 review

So it’s back to Albion for Fable 3 and a lot has changed since we were last here. A Dickensian style industrial revolution is in full swing. However for all this modernity it’s still acceptable to wander round in a snazzy bearskin wielding a hammer the size of a phone box. Incidentally it’s also acceptable to wander round in full drag or even a chicken costume should you so wish. The world of Fable is certainly a world of contradictions, and that is at the heart of everything it does well and everything it does wrong. Fable 3 is absolutely...

Risen

Risen review

I’ve recently been producing a 24 hour gaming event for the new Dragon Age Origins game. It’s a massive 3rd-person fantasy RPG for PC and consoles so it’s going to be hard for anything to top it. Risen developed by Piranha Bytes recently came through my door so I thought I’d give it a go and see how it fares. The game begins when you, as a stowaway, are shipwrecked on an island called Faranga. You then slowly begin to work your way into the politics of two factions (the bandits and the inquisition) on the island and explore and...

Rise of the Argonauts

Rise of the Argonauts review

Rise of the Argonauts tells the ancient Greek myth of Jason searching for the Golden Fleece. No, it’s not something to keep him warm he left behind at the pub after a few beers, it’s a magical fleece that’s gone missing and has the ability to bring people back from the dead. Why does he want it? Well, as bad luck would have it, his wife was killed during his wedding so he’s gone on the hunt to get the fleece back and then use it to bring her back from the limbo she’s currently in. This may look like...

Too Human

Too Human review

Too Human is an action RPG with a fair few ideas thrown into the mix. In a nutshell the game features humans fighting a war against machines, an alternate dimension in cyberspace and Norse Gods running about in human form with technical augmentations to make them badass fighting machines. You play as the god Baldur and for the majority of the time you’ll be making progress through linear levels where the object of the game is to destroy everything that comes at you. Too Human strategy is hardly there – you’re almost constantly surrounded by waves of metallic creatures and...
