Nintendo has been uber generous and pounded us with WiiWare releases us this past couple of weeks. With five games in two weeks we’re quite perplexed as to the reason for the huge outburst as we usually only get one game per week. Long may it continue though! For Virtual Console last week Nintendo gave us two classic retro games. First up is Final Solider from Hudson Software for the TurboGrafx16. This is yet another vertical shooter for the Virtual Console catalogue, yes we can’t believe how many there are to choose from now but if you love shooters, Final Solider with its tough difficulty, huge amount of weapons, power-ups and enemies to blast should keep you going for ages, it costs 700 WiiPoints. For Virtual Console this week Nintendo have given us two classic retro games. First up is the one of the last Mario games to be released on the Super Nintendo; Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars; created by the RPG masters at Square (yes that’s right – Square Enix) on behalf of Nintendo and was released in 1996 to huge acclaim both in Japan and the US. Nintendo have updated the Virtual Console with another two classic games this week. First up is Ys Book I & II, a single player TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM game for 800 WiiPoints. A mysterious RPG adventure full of; magic, monsters, danger and traps. If you like the classic 2D Zelda and Final Fantasy games then this could be fun for a while. Nintendo have updated the Virtual Console with another two classic games this week. Firstly we have the original Mega Man in all its 8bit platforming NES glory. For 500 WiiPoints it is well worth a purchase in preparation for the upcoming Mega Man 9, beware though – Mega Man is a very tough game and not for the fainthearted. Firstly we have a very cool pool game for up to four players; it’s called Break In and is from the TurboGrafx16 catalogue.
