Deadlight

Deadlight review

You’d think people would have had their fill of zombies by now but it seems people just can’t get enough of them. Deadlight continues the trend and delivers an atmospheric side-scrolling action platformer – think of it like a cross between Prince of Persia, Another World and The Walking Dead. The story is simple, you play the role of Randall Wayne who not only suffers from the same affliction as Elton John of having his name the wrong way round, but also the inconvenience of being separated from his family and having to travel through the wilderness to find them...

Lollipop Chainsaw

Lollipop Chainsaw review

What do you get if you cross Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Greece? The answer is Lollipop Chainsaw from Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. It’s a crazy supernatural tale in the same vein as Shadows of the Damned but this time you play as a cheerleader called Juliet Starling with her decapitated boyfriend Nick along for the ride instead of a flaming skull. The story is pretty simple. Zombies have invaded the town of San Romero (see what they did there horror fans?) and it just so turns out you and your entire family are zombie hunters so off you go...

Dead Rising 2 Off The Record

Dead Rising 2 Off The Record review

You could say that zombies have a lot in common with celebrities. Most people tend to get quite ‘excited’ when they encounter a zombie, for instance, and it’s the same for many people when they meet a celebrity. Zombies feed off of living breathing humans, celebrities ‘feed’ off the same, albeit in a different way (ie: they feel the need for the attention, to be constantly reassured that they are ‘special’, rather than feeling the need to munch on living flesh!) Zombies also have an annoying habit of not staying dead, much like celebrities at the end of their natural...

Dead Island review

Last year there was an interesting trailer for Dead Island that caught the attention of gamers worldwide. It showed us a short yet horrifying tale of a family desperately running away from a horde of blood-thirsty zombies. It was a brief, gory and best of all – played backwards. Now after having finished the game I can safely say that the trailer may have been great marketing, but it sure didn’t give us a real idea of what the game really was. I don’t know about you but I wasn’t expecting a cross between Borderlands and Left 4 Dead. Whilst...

Dead Island review

I’ve been putting off writing this review for days now. ‘Why is that?’ you ask? Well, I’m glad you asked that, because I’m going to tell you: I really couldn’t decide whether I loved it… or hated it, and so instead of sitting down and banging out some vaguely readable prose I just kept on and on playing the thing. I’ve now come to the conclusion that generally I hate it, but there are parts of it that I genuinely loved. Think that sounds a bit nuts? Read on… Dead Island is set, you won’t be surprised to hear, on...

It’s been a few months coming but Deep Silver have finally let slip more details about their upcoming first person zombie thriller; Dead Island. Now as much as I love Valve’s Left 4 Dead series, I can’t help but feel that it’s feeling a bit stale. The gameplay is a little too rigid and every new set of DLC maps feels the same as the last. So you can imagine we were quite pleased to hear that Dead Island takes L4D’s 4 player co-op and gives it a fresh new feel. Set on a fictional tropical island called Banoi; you...
