Now that HD-DVD is as good as dead, the xbox 360 blu ray rumors are surfacing. An Xbox Blu Ray drive is now being developed by a company called Lite-On. Microsoft has finally put the final nail in the HD DVD coffin by ceasing manufacture of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on. Many retailers have pulled away from stocking the format as they move towards Blu-Ray and now Microsoft has followed Toshiba in ceasing making the players for the little spinny discs. So, if you have an HD-DVD player for your 360 – quick, get it on eBay now before everyone cottons on that they’re worthless!

Woolworths scrap HD-DVD

Woolworths has stopped stocking HD-DVDs, another nail in the coffin and another victory for the rival Blu-Ray format in the HD format war. They say Blue-Ray outsold HD-DVD 10 to 1 over Christmas so will continue to sell HD-DVD online but have a new Blu-Ray only chart will now appear in 820 stores.

Blu-Ray vs HD DVD

Blu-Ray discs are kicking HD DVD’s asses according to their European Committee. They say more than a million films have been sold for its format with a 73 percent share, leaving a piddly 27 percent for HD-DVD. Sales have been bolstered by the PS3 having Blu-ray capability and by the recent releases of 300 and Casino Royale flying off the shelves.
