Top 5 Games of 2015

There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to gaming in 2015 – here are the best five that I’m looking forward to playing.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

At 5 it’s Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Okay, Ground Zeroes for me was a bit of a mixed bag. Positives were some great visuals and some good ideas nicked from Splinter Cell, but this was mixed with some really worrying themes from Kojima’s seemingly twisted brain and some awkward controls that should have disappeared by Snake Eater. Still, seeing Snake in an open world riding on horseback and being involved in another epic but probably nonsensical story should be a very compelling experience.

Evolve

At number four it’s Evolve, which pits four hunters against one giant beast in a game that’s sure to shake up what it means to play co-op. Sort of like Left 4 Dead but without hordes of zombies running after you, instead, the monster is played by another human, as flora and fauna in the world also play a part in the online action. Assault, Trapper, Medic and Support classes can go toe to tentacle with the Kraken, Goliath and other mythical beasts and with the ability to level up and get more powerful, this game should keep gamers playing for months to come.

Uncharted 4

At three it’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. No, it’s not the story of a night in jail after a robbery gone wrong, but the latest adventure of Nathan Drake from developers Naughty Dog. This time, the retired fortune hunter is forced back into the world of thieves on a more personal level and embarks on a globe-trotting adventure to track down some pirate treasure.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

At number two it’s Rise of the Tomb Raider. Seeing as origins stories are all the rage at the moment, it was inevitably Lara Croft’s turn again, and I don’t mean watching her looking all polygonal and jumping to her doom on PC and PS One. This next chapter of where it all began is a timed exclusive for Xbox One, and if it’s anything like the previous game, it’s sure to be a great mix of action, adventure and survival.

Batman: Arkham Knight

And at number one it’s Batman: Arkham Knight. I’m not the biggest Batman fan but this by far is my favourite world I’ve seen the Caped Crusader strut his stuff in. To be honest I’m not super excited about the Batmobile tank-style combat in the game but I am pleased to see the most fluid flying about Gotham yet, more reflex heavy combat and of course the return of the Scarecrow looking super scary with half his face missing!

So those are the top 5 games of 2015 that I’m looking forward to playing. Of course a few things will take me by surprise but I know I’ll definitely be putting a fair few hours into the aforementioned list. What are you looking forward to playing? Don’t forget to let me know in the comments section. Happy New Year!
