House of the Dead Overkill

Sega has just announced a fantastic new Wii exclusive shooter, House of the Dead Overkill – a prequel to the original House of the Dead. After a successful release of the House of the Dead 2 and 3 Wii compilation disc, it was a no brainer that Sega should once again carry on their fine lightgun game making skills, albeit on Nintendo Wii instead of the arcade.

House of the Dead: Overkill for Wii is taking the classic shooting series back in time with a 70’s retro graphic style and as Gary Night from Sega Europe says that they are “Paying homage to the pulp horror comics and films that inspired generations of gore fans”.

House of the Dead Overkill is based back when Agent G was still fresh out of the academy; he’s teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Agent Washington to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. When they uncover a huge pile of zombies it can mean only one thing, it’s time to take you Wii Remote (and if you have one, Wii Zapper) and pump them full of bullets before they eat your brains.

House of the Dead: Overkill for Wii is totally over the top 2 player cooperative gore fest, it’s full of blood, bullets and zombie body destruction, which coincidently is exactly what we need more of on Wii. Sega really look like they’re delivering the hardcore Wii fans exactly what they want, brand new adult themed games on Wii. With upcoming games like Mad World, and House of the Dead Overkill, it looks like Nintendo’s Wii is finally getting the games it deserves – Sega we applaud you! While you’re waiting for the announcement of the House of the Dead Overkill release date (we expect Q1 2009), why not check out the House of the Dead Overkill trailer.
