The Last of Us

The Last of Us preview

I’ve been looking forward to playing The Last Of Us and imagine my surprise when Sony sent me a code to play a short demo featuring two scenarios on my trusty retail PS3 from the comfort of my own home. After a hefty install I fired it up and was instantly grabbed by this bleak survival game telling the story of big hairy Joel and small Ellen Page lookalike with attitude, Ellie. The first area I explored was a short scenario in Lincoln where Joel and Ellie happen upon an abandoned town and search the area for supplies and a...

El Shaddai Ascension of the Metatron

El Shaddai Ascension of the Metatron review

Here’s an oddity – a video game based on a ‘story’ in the Bible. That story is the book of Enoch which, I’m told, is something to do with Noah’s Great Grandaddy and him trying to put a stop to some fallen Angels called the Watchers and get them off Earth before a great flood comes (you know, like the one seen in Evan Almighty, though probably more funny at the time). You see, they’ve been ‘interfering’ with humans and creating weird little bendy creatures that look like tofu called Nephilim. Of course, this being a game developed in Japan...

Enslaved Odyssey to the West

Enslaved Odyssey to the West review

Loosely based round the old Chinese tale along with the 70s TV series Monkey and Damon Albarn’s Monkey: Journey to the West, Enslaved tells the tale of two slaves who escape from a slave ship which crash lands in post-apocalyptic New York. It’s bad news for Monkey then that when he wakes, teenage female slave Trip has placed a headband round his head that not only means he’s in great pain if he doesn’t do what she says – he’ll also die if her heart stops! And so they embark on an adventure to find her village and stop the...

Plain Sight review

Do you remember when I first mentioned Microsoft’s XNA development studio? This low cost high powered software development kit can be used to develop games for the Xbox 360, Zune, Windows Phone and PC. I distinctly remember saying I’d likely be reviewing a game created using the software here on Gamesweasel and today that prediction has shown itself to be true. When I first saw the trailer for Plain Sight just a few weeks ago I was rather excited. Now I’ve had a while with the full game let’s see how it fairs under closer scrutiny in my review of...

Plain Sight

Plain Sight release date

I always love a small game from an independent studio and there’s always something fresh to find when you actually take a look. It’s so easy to constantly buy your games at the local store and forgetting about the smaller titles coming out on platforms such as; Steam, WiiWare, XBLA and others. Plain Sight from Beatnik Games is one such indie game that straight after watching the trailer I wanted to buy it. The developers describe Plain Sight as a ‘multiplayer arcade game about suicidal ninja robots’, I don’t know about you but that alone is getting me excited already....

Dark Void

Dark Void review

What do you get when you try to cross Uncharted, The Rocketeer and The Twilight Zone? Well, you could get Dark Void which is a 3rd-person action adventure set in the mysterious Bermuda Triangle. Playing as tough wise-guy pilot Will, your plane goes down over the afore-mentioned odd area and you get sucked into the Void where you must fight lots of mechanical creatures that also seem to have slugs living in them when you shoot them in the head. When not flying around in your jet-pack the game’s a pretty standard shooter. You stop and pop your shots from...
