Star Trek

Star Trek review

I haven’t seen the Start Trek movie but I hear good things about it. That’s more than can be said of this official Star Trek game brought out to cash in on the movie. Reviews online aren’t favourable but I thought I’d try it for myself and see what I made of it. So the premise, in case you don’t know, is that The Gorn have attacked New Vulcan and eventually attack Starfleet themselves and you, as Kirk or Spock, have to put a stop to all this lizard-shenanigans. The game focusses on co-op, so you can play online with a...

The Expendables 2

The Expendables 2 Video Game review

The Expendables 2 Video Game is a prequel to the outlandish movie featuring mostly aged action stars and sees you and up to three friends locally or online seeking to rescue a very valuable hostage. Think of it as a cross between Ikari Warriors and Smash TV and you’ll be someway there. As you’ve probably guessed you move using the left stick and shoot independently with the right stick as waves of enemies circle and flank you and try to end your fun with a stream of bullets. You can choose from one of four characters from the movie, each...

Star Trek Videogame

Star Trek sequel spawns a videogame

Set your faces to stunned, Namco Bandai have just bagged themselves the Star Trek publishing deal which means they’ll be making the movie video game tie-in for the next JJ Abrams movie. The good news is that it won’t try to copy the movie’s plot but will instead take on its own narrative as written by the writer of God of War and will focus on co-op. I guess we can expect a very angry protagonist then. And some boobs. Buy Star Trek Videogame now New: Buy Star Trek Videogame from Amazon.com

Captain America Super Soldier

Captain America Super Soldier review

There’s no two ways about it, the first half of 2011 has been awful for Wii owners. There have been hardly any games at all, let alone many good ones. Of course Nintendo themselves have been far too distracted with the 3DS to worry about Wii, but that doesn’t explain the lack of third party content. The latter half of this year will at least see a few final big titles for Wii owners to look forward to. Anyway, who’d have thought that it would be Nintendo’s old rivals Sega, stepping up to fill the void this summer? Let me...

Cars 2 The Video Game

Cars 2 The Video Game review

Cars 2: The Video Game is of course the game to support the Cars 2 movie sequel. It’s made by Disney Pixar so of course you’d expect the film to be of high quality and appeal to children and adults on different levels. This game’s a racer and shooter and in some ways it actually does the same, although will definitely appeal to kids more in the long run. You can actually play as any of the cars that feature in the movie as you train to become a C.H.R.O.M.E. agent and take on dangerous missions. For the purposes of...

Transformers War For Cybertron

Transformers War For Cybertron release date

Whilst we could all cry for weeks that the sultry Megan Fox is likely not appearing in the third Transformers movie, perhaps we should just get over it and play some Xbox 360. Let’s get this clear, Transformers War of Cybertron is not a movie spinoff. Instead the inspiration for the game comes from the original TV series and not Michael Bay’s blockbuster cinema ventures. As expected you take control of a Transformer but don’t go thinking you’ll only be playing as the goodies in this adventure. Prepare to see the Cybertron war from both sides as you play distinct...
