As promised Nintendo’s Wii Ware service launched today, I checked at 00:05 this morning and can happily confirm everything seemed operational. I was surprised to see that we do have an unannounced surprise demo of Dr Mario to download for free from WiiWare…but before you all rush off to download it (like I did), there is a catch. This demo is for the online Wi-Fi battle and it can only be played with a friend who owns the full version of the game (and you also have to trade friend codes too!). Those of you wanting some Dr Mario single player action or don’t know anyone who has the full game will be very disappointed – just as I was.
